Music Updates
Hey today I wanted to talk about the recants updates we’ve received from our artist and what this means for our future plans. To start of Ariel one of my group mates emailed “Beas,Diana,RCA records” and we actually got a response. This was the response, “Hey Ariel - thanks for providing the information you have thus far. Kindly note that Sony's policy is not to grant any music for free, so I will be charging an amount...although it will be
nominal. If you could, please answer the below questions as it will be helpful in assessing that dollar amount. Also, kindly note I have to go to the artist management camp to also
obtain approval. Additionally, you will need to clear publishing (song and lyrics)-and that's where you'll be granted permission by the administrators of the songwriters who wrote the
song…and RCA has nothing to do with those permissions-_are you aware of this additional step?
THE QUESTIONS
• What is the name of the project?
Can you give a description of the film?
• How exactly is the song going to be used - what is the scene description?
• Timing of the song?
How long do you need the song use for - 1 week, 1 month, or?
• On what platform will the film be housed so people can view? Will it be password protected?
How many people do you think will view the film?” So based on this email we Next executed our next plan. Our next plan was to email them again giving them a in depth explanation on what the task was. Also, we were going to have to explain fully what Cambridge was. After emailing all of that I think the artist will consider not charging us but still it’s under a contract so we can’t expect anything. We’re also going to tell them that specific number of people is going to view it like our teachers, graders, and us. With that being stated that only a few selections of people are going to see it I BELIEVE the artist will be a tad bit Lenient. So, this is what we came up for the answers- to email the artist• What is the name of the project?
The name of the project is the “Final Task.” This Final Task is 50% of our final grade for the course.
• Can you give a description of the film?
It’s meant to be the opening scenes of a feature length film and is 2 minutes long. The pitch of the film is that a young Black girl witnesses the brutal murder of her best friend and goes on the path of getting justice. In the first minute or so the girl and her best friend will be shown spending time together. While the two friends are hanging out, unexpectedly the girl's friend get murder. Towards the end of the film, you will get a brief insight on how the girl is dealing with witnesses the murder of her best friend.
• How exactly is the song going to be used – what is the scene description?
The song will be used around the middle of the two minutes, when the characters are walking out of a convenience store, and talking about where they’re going from there.
• Timing of the song?
From the 4:47 seconds of the song we will be using from 0:16-1:46.
• How long do you need the song use for – 1 week, 1 month, or?
Our Final Task is due April 15th, but it’s being submitted to the University of Cambridge. Our school offers a magnet program know as The Cambridge program. In the Cambridge program students take courses in which they acquire college credits. In order to receive those credits, someone at Cambridge grades their final exam which every student in the program must take, seeing as each course has its own specific final. We receive our grades from Cambridge to know if we have passed or failed the exam in early August of the following school year. After each student acquires a certain amount of credits which we know to be 7. Each credit is for each course. The student receives what is know as an the Cambridge AICE diploma. We were wondering which time length would be applicable to this film.
• On what platform will the film be housed so people can view? Will it be password protected?
The film will be uploaded through Blogger just like the rest of our films. Each student has their own individual blog. To access these blogs, you would need the link to the blog. The only person who has access to our blogs are ourselves, our teachers and whoever will be our grader at Cambridge. The film will only be viewed by our graders at Cambridge, our teachers and immediate family. Family will be viewing due to the fact that we are required to do a film review.
• How many people do you think will view the film?
No more than 10 people will be seeing the film.
The plan is to get a response if not we will find some royalty music to compensate for it
