There are many titles that were displayed during the opening sequence. This includes: the film’s executive producers, the name of the movie, and the author of the novel. There is a total of about 29 titles in the movie, Hostage. 


What connotations do the images carry? (how do you they make you feel) The images carry a mysterious connotation. All of the images are color coded to dark and plain colors. These colors include: dark red, black and gray. Although the music is slow and gentle, the images depict a different story. The majority of the images are that of buildings that seemingly tower over readers, guns and streets of a city. This gives viewers the feeling of a sort of power struggle. 


How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? (Can you tell 

what genre the film is) The genre is reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset in many ways. The sequence starts off giving off an ominous feeling. It makes viewers feel almost trapped as the images slowly spiral down. The technical codes show how the camera moved to a high angle, this helped tell the story of the movie. The images also signify distress. At the end of the title sequence, we see a man with a gun to his head screaming into a phone. This symbolic code gives viewers insight on how he’s feeling.

What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? The film’s conventions appeal to its target audience by creating suspense. Many audiences in action movies look for and enjoy the suspense of the movie. The images in the opening sequence also show guns and violence.  The film also shows a man who is obviously very hostile and in distress.These are things usually seen in action movies.

1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones?  


There are only 3 titles the producer Tage and the director tag and the title of the movie. This movie decided to take the fast option giving you the most important tags for the opening. To get their idea across quickly on what type of movie it is going to be. 

 


2. What connotations do the images carry? (how do you they make you feel)  


The titles are in between very intense images, editing, and sound going on with the titles it makes me feel pumped and ready to watch a action packed movie. The opening gets you prepared for the intensity of the movie.

tell what genre the film is) through action/interaction.  


Action / interaction Is different in every movie but what ties them together is the certain mood / action each genre creates that is implemented in the movie. Each genre leaves a blueprint to follow and not leave track of if you follow from that you can view each genre for example film giving you an intense opening with weapons that’s viewed as action. 


 

4. What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? 

Do not forget your media 


 The props, characters, and costume Definity plays an important role in targeting the audience. Costumes can determine whether children can watch it or not due to it being inappropriate. A certain character list like actors that usually film for children movies and gets a role for a different kind of movie will bring more attention to the movie. Also, the specific props can also target audience for example the movie using magic as their primary weapon system more sci fi people would attract to it more

Editing boom

 hey today was our first editing day. Me and my group mates discussed all of the editing tools like iMovie, Photoshop express, and Picart. Also, our main editor Airel finished putting all the files together and chopped up all the clips. Airel also suggested us to watch videos on how to utilize open shots. So as suggested I researched and found: Activate Openshot Click File>New Project in the upper left corner of the screen. To add videos and photos to your project, drag files from your file explorer into the OpenShot project files section, or choose file>Import Files and then import the files that you require.  Hello, for my commercial I wont be working with anyone. The reason for this is because I don't have many friends in the class and I don't want to make any because I find it hard to make friends now. Everyone having to quarantine I've lost my social skills and developed anxiety anytime I even try to talk to new people its very difficult so the easiest way for me is to say by self.
